AJK govt announces subsidy in prices of flour, electricity — Long march heads for Muzaffarabad as strike in AJK continues



Following the approval by the federal government to provide twenty-three billion rupees from the national exchequer to address the problem, the administration of Azad Jammu and Kashmir promptly announced a subsidy in the prices of grain and power.
Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwaar ul Haq of Azad Kashmir said today at a press conference in Islamabad that notifications had been sent out right away as a result of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s intervention.
He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his eagerness to find a peaceful solution and for directing the timely release of notifications.
The price of flour has been lowered from 3100 rupees to 2000 rupees every 40 kilogramme, according the notification.

The cost of electricity will be 3 rupees per unit for use within the first 100 units, 5 rupees per unit for use within the next 100 to 300 units, and 6 rupees per unit for use within the 300 units and higher slab.
Commercial power tariffs are set at 10 rupees per unit for slabs of one to three hundred units, and 15 rupees per unit for slabs of three hundred units and above.

On Monday, the fourth day of the Azad Kashmir shutdown strike and protest against the high cost of flour and power began, as the negotiations between the Awami Action Committee and the AJK government came to a standstill.
The Awami Action Committee has said that unless their demands are fulfilled, the wheeljam strike and indefinite closure will continue.
